Shopify PDP Conversion Optimization
Jewelry Brand — Product Detail Page Redesign
Project Goal:
Improve product clarity, usability, and purchase confidence on the Product Detail Page (PDP) by optimizing above-the-fold content, simplifying variant selection, and introducing trust and merchandising elements that support conversion.
The Challenge:
The original PDP created friction in several key areas:
Critical trust signals (reviews, stock status) were missing above the fold
Product options were confusing and fragmented across multiple listings
There was no clear or immediate path to purchase
Cross-sell opportunities and sustainability messaging were underutilized
As a result, the page lacked clarity, urgency, and confidence—especially for first-time visitors.
*Customer reviews were analyzed to identify the most common purchase drivers and concerns, which informed the messaging and product value propositions surfaced above the fold.
Key UX & CRO Improvements (Before → After):
1. Trust & Urgency Signals Added Above the Fold
Introduced product reviews prominently near the title
Added in-stock messaging, including “Few left in stock” to create urgency
Reduced the product title size to surface more actionable content above the fold
2. Clear UVPs Based on Real Customer Language
After analyzing customer reviews, I identified recurring themes that mattered most to buyers. These UVPs were surfaced above the fold in a scannable format.
3. Variant Selection Rebuilt for Clarity & Purchase Flow
Created proper product variants for charm letter selection
Replaced the confusing one-line product list structure
Added a clear Add to Cart experience
4. Wishlist Functionality Introduced
Added a wishlist option to support users who:
Are browsing
Want to save items for later
Aren’t ready to purchase immediately
5. Frequently Bought Together Cross-Sells
Implemented a “Frequently Bought Together” section directly under the wishlist.
6. Sustainability Icons Added Near the Description
Introduced a dedicated sustainability section placed directly beneath the product description for visibility without disrupting the purchase flow.
The Results:
The implemented changes resulted in a dramatic improvement in key performance indicators:
A clearer above-the-fold experience
Reduced friction in variant selection
Stronger trust, urgency, and merchandising signals
A PDP structure aligned with CRO best practices
Mobile Conversion Rate - 0.91% → 1.53% (+69%)
Key Takeaways:
This project highlights how small but strategic UX improvements on a product page can significantly impact conversion performance.
