For CellLift, an interruptive sample-selection modal was replaced with an integrated, customer-controlled cart-drawer experience.
CellLift's checkout experience featured an interruptive sample-selection modal at a critical decision point. While it was designed to boost engagement, it instead created cognitive overload and delayed customers' progression to checkout — friction was outweighing whatever benefit the modal was meant to add.
The modal approach was generating friction rather than engagement at the decision stage — a signal that the sample-selection step needed to become optional and customer-controlled, not a gate blocking the path forward.
Sample selection no longer blocks the path to checkout.
Samples became an optional step inside the existing cart flow instead of a separate gate.
Increased visual hierarchy and prominence of the checkout button.
Kept the cart drawer open to maintain momentum, and removed chat from the drawer to cut distraction.
"Reducing interruption, improving CTA visibility, and maintaining flow meaningfully increased checkout progression and overall conversion."
